2 Fun NYE Parties in NYC

My brother, Adam Aleksander, organized a party at Macao Trading Co, where he's having Balinese dancers and Burlesque performers. He built sets, made costumes, and put a lot of great creative energy into it!
Also, my best friend's band, Hunters, will be playing at a really fun party in a gallery in Lower east side called Ramiken Crucible. Should be great times!

My best friend, Derek, adopted me for Christmas. Well, he and his family did. It was so nice, since my parents are mostly in Florida, acting like old people now, Derek's family let me come stay with them in Philly. We ate lots of food, drank whiskey, and played wiii for the first time. It's so much fun.

I shot new press photos for The xx the other day. They're completely sweet and lovely. My little brother, Adam, came and built sets. He brought in some cool red tree branches and smoke.

Here's a pic of Adam and his dog Whitey (Whitey does not like to be photographed)

Then I had a double shoot in one day, and I shot this great producer guy named Ewan Pearson. He djs and works with bands like The Rapture. Total sweetheart. He took a picture of me shooting, while I was shooting him. (I borrowed his frog hat).
i know. i know. i need to keep it up. things got super busy. a lot of cram before the holidays.

I went to see The Big Pink play on Friday night. Their drummer Akiko is by far the most interesting part of the band. And she's a really good blogger.

Here's a pic of her..

Then Saturday night I went to see The xx play. I wanted to check them out before I shot some photos of them on Monday. I absolutely love their music! It's so beautiful. And there's something about the feeling that comes from a man and woman singing together that fills my insides with warmth and comfort.

I had one of the most memorable experiences last week. A couple of friends and I got a private tour of the Tim Burton exhibit at the MoMA. The exhibit in itself was incredible, not to mention, running around in there with just a few close friends. Tim Burton was an illustrator in his early years, and it's fascinating to see how his early drawings and doodles shaped his later iconic films.

I took this photo of Hunters before their last show.

Wow. Peaches is one seriously badass chick!

Haha! The Vice Magazine story I shot just came out. They did a great job with the layout. It's basically goths, punks, and metalheads hanging out at ihop, then they get in a big food fight and smother pancakes all over the place.
(click the pics and they grow big)

Did I mention I got to see Bad Brains on Halloween? How did that ever happen. Thank you Vice!

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

I love Halloween in NYC so much. It makes me love the city more and more, and all the amazing, creative people who inhabit it. Nick was Marilyn Manson, and I was Twiggy Ramirez, his bassist.

I just found some old rolls of film and processed them and they took me to a hot, moist place in Tennesee with lots of hippies and backpacks.. Bonnaroo.

I wish I could be upstate right now! I'm feeling the concrete, and missing the nature.

Joy is my middle name

for real. This picture taken at Bonnaroo in Tennessee.
